KFSCIS Team Leads New Transfer Pathways Project

Dr. Trevor Cickovski is leading a project team to smooth the pathway to graduation for transfer students, especially female students, and by doing so, improve the experience of transfer students who collectively occupy nearly 50% of the KFSCIS student population. The project will consist of an outreach to recruit female students early in their academic careers (K-12) and their first year at Miami-Dade College (MDC), as well as provide a network of support designed to smooth the transfer pathway for female students from MDC to FIU.  The program will leverage student organizations at MDC such as the Future Females in Computing (FFC, with a specific mission of K-12 outreach), Women in Computer Science (WiCS), and Women in Cybersecurity (WiCys), and connections established with counterparts at FIU. The project will also extend internships and networking opportunities through external organizations such as Break Through Tech (BTT) and AI for All (AI4All).

The team consists of KFSCIS members Drs. Jason Liu, Mark Weiss, and Joselyn Naranjo, and is part of the Transfer Pathways program at Northeastern University’s Center for Inclusive Computing to build efficient transfer pathways for computing students.
