Abstract
In the context setting phase of the talk, we outline the mission and structure of MIT Lincoln Laboratory, a Federally Funded Research and Development Center located on Hanscom Airforce Base in Lexington, MA and operated by MIT. In the technical portion of the talk, we de-mystify and explain recent “Zero Trust” approaches to improve the cybersecurity of enterprise, critical infrastructure and specialized mission systems. We also share some successful implementations of Zero Trust.
Biography
Jeff Gottschalk is a senior leader at MIT Lincoln Laboratory, a non-profit federal R&D laboratory with the mission of creating advanced technology for national security. As the Assistant Head of the 300-person Cyber Security and Information Sciences Division, Jeff advances the strategic directions of two areas that he established: Cyber-Physical Systems and Cyber Operations. He has a diverse technical background that includes cybersecurity, AI, software engineering, high-speed digital electronics, RF hardware, digital communications, infrared sensors, lasers, and fiber-optic technology. In his current role, Jeff works closely with the U.S. Government providing unbiased inputs on a variety of topics such as zero trust architecture and the DoD’s Joint Cyber Warfighting Architecture.
