The idea of getting an internship or a job after graduation can seem daunting. Upsilon Pi Epsilon’s MentorFIU program is trying to get students on the right track to internships, jobs, and more in the technology industry. This program matches mentees to mentors with a wide variety of skills to help them transition to college life and learn more about the industry.
On Thursday, March 7th, MentorFIU held its first Industry Professional Q&A Panel. The panel was comprised of seven FIU students. Sheila Alemany, a student with published research about artificial intelligence, Andres Chavez, a C++ developer at local company Farelogix, Nazmul Huq, a student currently pursuing research in big data, Mireya Jurado, a student pursuing a PhD with published research about blockchain, Astrid Riviera, an Exploratory turned Software Engineering Intern at Microsoft, Cesar Villa Garcia, the former president of Upsilon Pi Epsilon and recent Worlds Ahead graduate, and Natalie Whitehead, a Junior Release Coordinator at Farelogix. Each panelist was given the chance to speak about their experiences in the computing and information sciences industry.
