Where did you intern? What did you do there? I interned at Facebook as a Facebook University (FBU) Engineering intern. FBU is a freshman/sophomore program that allows students to get a better understanding of the field and to get more comfortable with the tech industry.
How did you get your internship? I got the internship by finding it on the website when I was looking at the different opportunities they offered. I also heard about the internship when talking to some members of FIU’s chapter of Upsilon Pi Epsilon(UPE), an international honors society for computing and tech students.
What advice do you have for those beginning the internship process? Apply to as many places as you can, even if you think you have a chance or not. You never know what the outcome could be until you try.
What projects did you work on? I went through a three-week bootcamp on learning Android development by working on a series of projects, and then I created my own app from scratch called Mentorply, a mentorship program management application. The reason I created this application is that I’m the director of a program called UPE Mentor, and I felt that this app could possibly help streamline the mentorship process and make it easier for mentors and mentees to get in contact with one another.
