Professor Hadi Amini is leading a team, including Drs. Jason Liu, Stephanie Lunn, Ruimin Sun, Cuong Nguyen, Gregory Reis, and Leonardo Bobadilla, for a new U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Center. The ADvanced Education and Research for Machine Learning-driven Critical Infrastructure REsilience (ADMIRE) Center.
The project will broaden participation; enhance education, research, and workforce development in the Homeland Security Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (HS-STEM) areas; and build capacity for college students, university students, and faculty to make connections with the Homeland Security Enterprise. The ADMIRE Center is expected to provide an integrated research and education framework with a special focus on three of the DHS operational topics of interest, specifically critical infrastructure resilience, cybersecurity, and machine learning. The Center will be poised to provide scholarship support to the engaged students and will seek to place them in internships within the Department’s agencies to further student training.
The grant is part of the DHS Scientific and Leadership Award which will provide $1,000,000 in research and workforce training over the next five years.
