Tech Talent Academy

The FIU Tech Talent Academy (TTA) focuses on enhancing tech students’ employment success and engagement in career development activities. It offers programming to develop hard and soft skills employers seek, including gamified activities and community-supported initiatives. The Academy, embedded in the Knight Foundation School of Computing and Information Sciences (KFSCIS), guides students through their career journey, leveraging resources from various FIU departments and external partners. It emphasizes building Open Source software portfolios, which is essential for impressing recruiters and incorporates self-paced learning, peer support, industry mentoring, and gamification elements. The program targets sophomores to seniors, aiming to bridge knowledge gaps, enhance soft skills, and boost confidence. Key activities include the Open Source Challenge, Open Source Fest, and Tech & Talent Awards, with objectives to significantly improve internship and employment rates among participants.

The Tech Talent Academy (TTA) at FIU has a specific admissions policy and procedure to select suitable candidates for program success. These policies and procedures provide clear guidelines and expectations for prospective students, ensuring that TTA attracts and admits candidates most likely to benefit from and contribute to the program. The program is geared towards students who are comfortable with programming and can quickly grasp new computing concepts. Students facing academic challenges in computing should focus on improving their course performance and are advised to seek guidance from their academic advisors.
