Two KFSCIS Faculty and Staff Members Receive CEC Honors

Faculty Award

Sergio PisanoDr. Sergio Pisano, Assistant Teaching Professor at KFSCIS received the College of Engineering and Computing’s (CEC) Teaching Award for 2023 for exceptional innovations in his classroom. Dr. Pisano says that “[he] is an engineer with a passion for teaching and technology.” He received his Bachelor of Science in Systems Engineering at the Universidad Metropolitana in Caracas, Venezuela, his Master of Science in Telecommunications and Networking at Florida International University, and his Doctor of Education at Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts. He has worked in a variety of information technology positions and has been teaching since 2011. His academic interests include Game-Based Learning and novel teaching methodologies.

 

Headshot of Rebeca ArochaMs. Rebeca Arocha, the Graduate Program Advisor, received the CEC Staff Service Excellence Award for her work in advising our more than 400 graduate students. She is a two-time FIU alumna, having earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice in 2012 and her Master of Science degree in Criminal Justice in 2014. Rebeca has also been working at FIU for more than 10 years, where she is always providing excellent service.
